How does a solar energiser work?
The internal battery is powered by light falling on the solar panel. Contrary to what many people think, this is daylight rather than sunlight. This keeps the battery charged and powers the fence. Even during periods of low sunlight, such as winter time, the device continues to function due to the patented battery management system. This ensures powerful and reliable operation.

Thanks to the unique patented battery management system, the solar energisers can be used all year round. This allows the device to function for up to 3 weeks without direct sunlight (i.e. daylight). A shorter period applies to the heavier devices. This ensures powerful and reliable operation.

Many light battery devices under 1 Joule operate on a non-rechargeable battery that lasts up to one season. Although these devices are cheaper to buy, they actually cost more per year when compared to a solar-powered device. If you compare the BA40 device with non-rechargeable battery to the S40 with internal battery, you will quickly save more than 50% in annual costs based on a 10-year lifespan! In addition, choosing an S40 is more sustainable because you no longer have to dispose of a flat battery every year. 6. Easy to install
Gallagher has many accessories for easy installation of a solar energiser. These include stands, holders and the supplied connection sets. The stands and holders can be easily attached to different types of posts. In this way, the devices can be placed off the ground so that the panel is not overshadowed by grass, for example.
How do I choose the right energiser?
The type of animal, the size of the area to be fenced off and the desired power will determine which device best suits your situation. Also take into account any vegetation against the wire. If there is a lot of vegetation, we recommend choosing a heavier device. We also recommend a heavier device in case of sheep.
